What a magnetic healer actually is, many people don’t know. When I answer « magnetic healer » to someone who asks what I do for a living, I often see a mix of curiosity and wariness. Some picture a magnet, others a sorcerer, others still a charlatan. I understand. For a long time, I didn’t know how to name what I felt myself. So here, simply, is what a magnetic healer is, what they do and what they don’t do.
Magnetic healer: a simple definition
A magnetic healer is a person who accompanies others through their hands, held a few centimetres from the body, or through intention. They prescribe nothing, don’t manipulate the body and use no device. Their work rests on what is called magnetism, an energy that some people say they can perceive and pass on.
The word has nothing to do with magnets. People also say healer, and in some regions « barreur » or « coupeur de feu » (burn healer) when it comes to burns. In France, it is neither a healthcare profession nor a trade regulated by a state diploma. It is a well-being practice.
Where the word magnetism comes from
The term goes back to the 18th century and the German physician Franz Anton Mesmer, who spoke of « animal magnetism ». His ideas caused a stir in Paris, then were challenged by a royal commission that attributed the observed effects to imagination. The debate between what is felt and scientific proof has therefore existed for more than two centuries. I prefer to say so frankly.
Magnetic healing is a complementary approach to well-being. It never replaces medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or follow-up. No particular result can be guaranteed.
What a magnetic healer does during a session
Every magnetic healer has their own way of working. Here is mine, so you know concretely what to expect.
- I start by listening to what brings you, without asking for medical details.
- You stay dressed, seated or lying down.
- I work with my hands, most often a few centimetres from the body. I do no manipulation.
- The session lasts about 45 minutes at my practice in Le Perreux-sur-Marne, conversation included, and about 30 minutes at a distance, from a recent photo.
I detail each step in the article on how a magnetic healing session unfolds.
What a magnetic healer feels
I’m often asked this question. I can only speak from my own experience. For years, before I understood what was happening to me, I felt emotions that didn’t belong to me. I yawned constantly near people who were tired or tense. I still find these signs today during sessions.
Other magnetic healers talk about warmth in the hands, tingling, areas that « attract » the hand. Everyone perceives in their own way. What matters is not the intensity of what the practitioner feels, it is the framework they work within and the respect they have for the person in front of them.
If you wonder whether you have this kind of sensitivity yourself, I talk about it in the article on the magnetism test with a glass of water.
Magnetic healer, bonesetter, burn healer: don’t mix them up
- The magnetic healer works through energy, without manipulation.
- The bonesetter (« rebouteux » in French) works with the hands on muscles and joints, through physical gestures.
- The burn healer (« coupeur de feu ») accompanies burns, shingles or the effects of radiotherapy. Many magnetic healers, myself included, are also burn healers.
The differences are explained in detail in the article bonesetter, magnetic healer or burn healer. And for the burn healer, everything is in the article burn healer.
Why see a magnetic healer
The people who come to see me have very different reasons. Some are going through a difficult period, others simply want some time for themselves. Here is what I accompany most often.
- Burns, shingles and the effects of radiotherapy, as a burn healer, always as a complement to medical care
- Stress, anxiety and fatigue, as I explain in the article on stress and burnout
- Disturbed sleep
- Skin problems such as eczema or warts
- Babies and children, always with a parent present
- Animals, at a distance from a photo
You don’t need to be unwell to come. Some people come for a moment of relaxation, or because they feel they are carrying something too heavy. The complete list is on the What I help with page.
To learn how to recognise a reliable practitioner, near you or at a distance, I have gathered my criteria in the article how to choose a magnetic healer.
What a serious magnetic healer never does
- Make a diagnosis
- Promise a cure or a result
- Ask you to stop a treatment or not to see your doctor
- Scare you to make you come back
- Hide their prices
If any of these lines reminds you of an experience, read my article on the real dangers of magnetism.
Frequently asked questions about the magnetic healer
Does a magnetic healer have a diploma?
There is no state diploma. Some follow private training, others have a gift handed down in their family. Mine was passed down to me by my great-grandmother, and I have been practising for 27 years.
Do I need to believe in it to come?
No. Many people arrive sceptical. You can come with your doubts.
Can a magnetic healer work at a distance?
Yes, from a recent photo of the person, face visible. I explain everything in the article on distance magnetic healing from a photo.
How much does a session cost?
A session costs €100, and the pack of 3 sessions €270, at the same price at my practice or at a distance. All the details are on the prices page.
